László Gucsi ceramist

Archaeological pottery attracted me as a child from Dunaújváros. Archaeologists and conservators of our local museum, called Intercisa after the Roman name of our city helped me to test my abilities in creating objects similar to prehistoric pottery. After five years of trial my works started to look like the finds I took as samples. I am working without the help of potter's wheel same as prehistoric masters. I have constructed several wood-heated adobe ovens to be able to use original techniques.

By now I have made several hundred vessels which found their ways to distant countries like the UK and Japan and some museums like the Hungarian Natural History Museum or the Experimental Archaeological Park at Százhalombatta. Recently I had a road-side exhibition at one of the main junctions of Dunaújváros; currently, I am preparing for the Museum May-Day held in the Hungarian National Museum.

The prehistoric antecedents of the presented vessels originate from:
Bükk culture, Neolithic period

Nagyrév culture, Early Bronze Age
Incrusted ware pottery culture, Middle Bronze Age
Füzesabony culture, Middle Bronze Age
