Activities of ICOM HNC in 2002
2002 proved to be a fruitful and multi-faceted year for the Hungarian National Committee of ICOM.
The most important event of the Hungarian Museum World was the two-hundred years anniversary of the foundation of the Hungarian National Museum. ICMAH (International Committee for Museums and Collections of Archaeology and History) had its annual meeting in Budapest on this occasionbetween 25-30 September 2002.
ICOM Hungary HNC contributed, as usual to the award "Museum of the Year" adjudged on Museums' Day with a special prize. We participated with success the Museums' Mayday organised on the same occassion.
A professional support was given to the VIth meeting of Technical Museum experts held in Sopron 15-17 2000. A professional support was also given to the Budapest session of the Cooperation Union of Central European Technical Museums in October 2002.
The traditional outing of ICOM HNC was directed to Brno, Czeh Republic and lasted for two days.
Participation on different meetings of ICOM and its committees was supported on the basis of individual applications. List of persons receiving subsidies was given as part of the annual budget account.
The General Assembly of ICOM Hungary HNC elected a new presidential board. The former leaders of the Committee attained special merits in developing the professional contents, membership and raising and handling funds. The Ministry of Cultural Heriatege contributed most to the expenses of ICOM HNC (2.200.000 HUF) and essential support was given to us by the National Cultural Foundation (1.000.000). The support was badly needed because the national committees are entitled only to 10 % of membership fees.
According to regulations, part of the former ICOM HNC Board were not eligible for board membershipa and resigned, like the chairperson Erzsébet Kóczián-Szentpéteri, head of the Public Collections Department of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage as well as board members Péter Deme and Tamás Vásárhelyi. The new board elected comprise: Miklós Cseri (chairman), Éva Vámos (secretary), members: György Balázs, István Páll, Levente Füköh, Gabriella Vörös, Judit Varga, Mária Bezzeg, Katalin T. Biró.
The current board is expression sincere thanks for the enthusiastic and fruitful work of the former board.
